Feedback for my blog I want to share.

Hi, everybody!
I checked my Ravelry message box this morning and found a message I want to share:

"I can’t and don’t understand your blog. If you are going to post pictures of obscure crocheted or knitted items why don’t you post the patterns? Many letters are written to you asking about patterns. Your bullying reply is ” there are no patterns here.” Then what is the point of the blog? For you to gloat? I don’t get it. To me you are acting like a big bully, thumbing your nose to whoever asks for a pattern. Can you explain the purpose of your blog to me? I am really trying to understand. Thanks"

This message made me terrified that somebody thinks of me as a bully.
Sometimes we don't see obvious things right underneath our noses, may be it's my case?
I post pictures of designers garments I find interesting, garments that inspire me. there are no patterns for them existed. I always (almost always, when I know) state a name of the brand or a designer of the garment. It didn't occur to me that some people might think Oscar de la Renta or Ralph Lauren would offer a pattern for their creations.
I am sorry for that.

Their work inspires me, I love looking at those images, I guess some people do too.
If not, they don't have to read my blog. Why get frustrated and angry and call me a bully?
I love all of you, I am happy to share this passion with such wonderful people. This is not bullying that I don't post patterns.
Posting patterns of scanned magazines is a copyright violation. I know how hard it is to create a pattern, how much work it requires, I don't want anything to do with that. I will not post somebody else pattern even if  it is existed.

That is all I want to say today. I am sorry if I am not up to somebody's expectations. We all do what we can. My positive energy for you, my friends and happy crocheting!

If you feel frustrated, let it go, put it in the stream to go away, try to find some peace and share it with other people!

This not so nice morning turned to be a wonderful best ever day, because I got so many good messages from you, that made my day! Thank you all, so much! I appreciate you took time to give me a word of support from your hearts!

  4. Thank you for what you do and for graciously putting up with comments such as this. I, too, appreciate the inspiration you share on your blog. Sometimes readers aren't really readers at all. They look for pretty pictures and don't bother to read why the pretty picture is posted. Then they get mad when they don't see a pattern included. That is not your fault, and all of us should be as anti-plagiarism as you. Keep up the good work!

  7. hi.. don't mind her.. you see, some people think that it is their benefit or priviledge to get a pattern of everything, for free! And I totally agree with you. You wouldn't really see works of Oscar de la Renta with patterns!

I love your blog.. and I am inspired by whatever you post here too!

  9. Наташа, что можно сказать? - не обращать внимания на такие сообщения. Встречаются иногда такие, мягко говоря, странные люди. Блог - это дневник, и каждый составляет сообщения по своему усмотрению. Если что-то не нравится - проходи мимо.

  11. I love the items you post and they truly inspire me. Some people cannot be satisfied to just look at beautiful handwork. And I appreciate the fact that you do NOT post the patterns violating the copyright law. oh....and the woman who called you a bully is really a bully herself.
Keep posting things that you find that inspire you and are beautiful to look at!!!

  12. I agree with the comments above. The person who wrote that letter is actually a bully herself, thinking that by name calling and ridiculous demands she can weasle free patterns out of you. Please ignore her negative energy and keep sharing what you do and see. Your posts are enjoyed by many.

  13. Hi Natalie, I'm following you many months ago and I never commented until now. I can't believe that in the world of the arts there is anyone so frustrated and unhappy, it is disturbing ... I love your blog and it inspires me. Your mails that I receive in my inbox with your each new post make my evenings, especially with your photos on landscapes and environments so beautiful as the scenery around your home. Go ahead always the same. A bear hug from Chile, from the other side of the world.

  14. It's extremely obvious that your blog focuses on posting pictures of garments for inspiration purposes, to show what is possible and the state of the art. Anyone who is working at that level is not going to be working from a commercially available pattern, to assume otherwise is exceptionally naive. I love your blog - it assumes a level of creativity and skill that is challenging, for me. In a good way! Most crocheters I know never work patterns solely unmodified anyway - we always add a little as we go to make the results truly ours - who wants to be a blind copyist forever anyway?! Copying only helps you get started, creativity and originality and the willingness to be inspired and experiment is what makes you really good... I think you can be comforted that the commenter is almost certainly a naive person with undeveloped skills, I hope you don't take it personally.

  21. Bonjour Natalia,
Merci for sharing all the treasures you have found on the net made by you or by other stylists.
No need to give us the patterns , lik you said, no stylist will give away his patterns.

The ladys who are agressive in commentarys on blogs ,
are sad agressive woman with a deep poroblem that is niot yours.
Every where on the net, on Pinterest , on blogs they attac pacifique poeple.etc...
I do not know why they need to agress pacifique women like you or me or others.
    I also have been victim of agressive commentarys on ly blog or pinterest, thow i am allways , yes allways respectful,kind and polite to everyone even when they do not agree to my point of vieuw;

First sorry forv my poorly English, I am French Speaking.

    Myself , i am atheiest,
but in find insparation in the bouddhism philosophy for it teaches us ego is nothing but an illusion.
It helps greatly to have this knowlege.
So someone agressive should be seen like somoene sick just like a doctor would see her....
we should have compassion for her, the way a doctor would have for her, with real distance, never letting her touch us in any way....

She has a problem deep in herself, It is up to her to ask for help instead of agressing others..

    Your interesting work is clear,
we understand the philosophy of your very beautifull blog,
the same as you lovelly personnality.

I just hope you keep on sharing, you are one of my favorite net magasines.

    Merci Natalia,
    Kind regards to you,

  22. In spite of my Portuguese heritage, I'm relatively new to crochet. I was born and raised in Canada, was a goth/punk in the 80s and the crochet in white thread my grandmother and aunties made just seemed far from "cool" to me.
Just a few years ago a lengthy illness found me in bed with little energy, but much time so I explored a lot online hunting for things I could do in bed and wouldn't you believe I "discovered" crochet!
    LOL!
Your website was one of my earliest inspirations!
I will admit that I too was occasionally frustrated by the lack of patterns to some of my favourite designs, but that's not on you.
Still, I come back and find myself inspired again and again and have to say to you "Thank you so much!".
Managing a blog like this is work and you do it.
You could easily just keep a scrapbook for your own use and your own inspirations, however you do the work and share with us, people you will most likely never meet in person.
This is a kindness and a gift.

Albert Einstein has been quoted in saying "Creativity is contagious. Pass it on!"
You do your part and more.

Your site was instrumental in opening my mind to the possibilities of this art form, which has led me to learn crochet stitch work as well as reading charts and now I can sometime even figure out patterns just by looking at an image.
You can safely assume for every letter such as this that you receive there are many others who share the same experience.
Some of the finest teachers teach simply by example.

    You can be proud.
    XO

  23. Hello from Utah, United States! I love your blog so much! I enjoy the beautiful designs that you share with us, yours as well as other designers. I have found much inspiration in your posts. I actually am grateful thst you do not have a pattern for everything you post. Not that i do not get frustrated when unpicking something for the tenth time 😉, but i learn more that way. I find that i am a much better artist when i have to figure out the design on my own. And i say artist because i truly feel crochet is an art. I am very passionate about it and put much love in everything i create. I do not find you a bully, i find you to be as passionate about crochet as i am and that in itself can be very inspirational. I love how much attention you give to all the feedback you receive. I love your blog! Keep p the beautiful work! I hope to see many more of your creations, as well as what inspires you, for a long time to come!!

  25. Of course I believe MOST of us always knew your blog was nothing more than a focus on the beauty that can be produced by crochet, and that's why we love you. Just like everybody else, the fact you are not publishing scans ect is one of the reasons I've kept coming back for more. Hugs and love from France, I love visiting your blog, gives a deeper insight into the art of crochet. And your photos are always beautiful ! :-)

  28. Just working my way back through your postings as I have just discovered your blog. This post...just...wow, some people are dumb--you are very clear which things are YOUR DESIGNS (for which you obviously usually do make patterns available), and which ones are eye candy from runway designers or high-end retailers. I'm not sure how people get the two confused.

Also, if people think it's mean of you to withhold patterns from them, maybe they need to visit one of the many repositories of free crochet patterns instead of whining about it? ::shakes head about crazy people on the Internet::
