Natural Cotton Crochet Top "Flowers"

I wear it with white top underneath, but it will stand out with some darker colors, like brown or blue.

    1. Natalia, I know how to crochet and did small projects in past. I want to do something which can be helpful socially. I mean to make poor/needy girls of our country learn some craft to earn and become self dependent. The idea came 4 yrs back in my mind. But then i was not that financially well and had many responsibilities at my end. Now i suppose will start free camps in few months.
Just curious,Do you use machines for crocheting or do it with regular crochet hooks. How much time it take to crochet a simple top by hand?
Thanks for reading posts nd replying.

    2. Hi, Mamta.
It's a wonderful idea, though I am not sure it's the best way to become self dependent.
Crochet can't be maid using a machine, it's a handwork. You can find some garments in stores which look similar to crochet from far away, but truly it's not.
I don't know from which country you are, there is no information in your profile. Since crochet is in style this season, you can find a lot of crochet garments for sale. I assume they all made somewhere overboard where workforce is really cheap, China for example, because there is no way to sell a crochet dress with profit for $100. It takes a lot of time to make one. If you live in US with minimum wage about $7, you have to make it in 10 hours, assuming the cost for thread (yarn). It is not possible!
Well, famous designers prices are much higher, something close to $1000.
Answering your question how much it take to make a top, I would say it might wary depending on what yarn you use (the thicker - the faster), skills and difficulty of the pattern. Also you actually can't use somebody's pattern and sell what you made because of Copyright, unless you have a permission. So you have to make your own pattern. Another way to make money is to create your own patterns and sell them on-line or to crochet magazines.
Anyways, understanding all of that I still think it's great to know how to crochet, even if you make something for yourself, your family members or friends. I always wear some crochet and I love it, especially here, in suburb America where so mane women dress like twins in flip-flops, horrible synthetic t-shorts, shorts and my worst nightmare - roomy capry pants (not sure I spell it right). But, I have to say, some crochet could be very tasteless as anything can.
      Good luck!

    3. Natalia, Thank you very much for replying in detail. I am from India. I am software engineer by profession. The idea not only relates to teach crocheting it includes many other things like stitching, doll making, cane craft, embroidery, pickel/jams making , cooking :):) etc etc. I am planning the whole idea keeping in mind the market demand of the products. Aaaah there are many things to plan.
But will say its very nice of you to reply the messages.

      Thank you again.

    4. I see now. I can' say for other countries. India develops so fast now. Anyways, your idea is great! To learn any new skill is always great! It would be also nice for retired people, who doesn't have much to do. My mom retired now and now she weaves, felts, cross stitches and does a lot of other crafts.
As I said before, good luck!
